Job Summary
This HLP role is designed to provide structured exposure to project execution activities across engineering design, construction, procurement, and commissioning in an onshore upstream oil and gas environment. The successful candidate will support the Engineering & Projects team in the delivery of capital and brownfield projects, gaining broad experience across the project lifecycle with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and schedule
Key Accountabilities
• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects from design to commissioning stages.
• Assist in preparing engineering design documentation, project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and cost estimates.
• Participate in design reviews, technical evaluations, and contractor/vendor assessments.
• Track project progress, prepare weekly/monthly status reports, and support cost and schedule performance analysis.
• Contribute to the development of project execution plans, HSE interface documents, quality assurance plans, and risk registers.
• Assist in tender preparation, bid evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
• Liaise with internal disciplines (e.g., facilities, maintenance, production) and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project delivery.
• Monitor contractor performance and compliance with company standards and Nigerian regulatory requirements.
• Support construction activities, site inspections, and commissioning operations as required.
• Ensure documentation and record-keeping for technical handover and project close-out.
Skills and Competences
• Basic understanding of oil & gas facility design, construction, and commissioning.
• Knowledge of engineering documentation (P&IDs, GA drawings, data sheets).
• Familiarity with project controls tools and techniques including cost and schedule tracking.
• Competence in MS Office Suite; exposure to MS Project or Primavera P6 is an added advantage.
• Good communication and reporting skills; ability to interface with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Awareness of HSE requirements in project delivery.
• Ability to work independently under supervision and contribute in a team setting.
Qualification
• B.Sc./B.Eng. in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized university.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in engineering or project execution within the oil & gas or related industrial sector.
• Membership or eligibility for registration with COREN or a professional engineering institution is an added advantage.
• Willingness to work in both field and office locations as project demands require.
